Depression: A Rounded Perspective

Depression. The Black Dog.

People don’t choose depression. Depression chooses people.

Depression doesn’t care about your appearance.

Depression doesn’t care about your spouse.

Or your children.

Or your friends.

Or your family.

Pets.

Bills.

Confidence.

Depression doesn’t care if you have to repeat yourself because nothing you say seems to be sinking in.

Depression doesn’t care if the depressed look selfish.

Lazy.

Uncaring.

Vacant.

Depression wants the depressed to feel like everyone is attacking them.

Not helping.

Depression wants the depressed to feel alone.

Isolated.

Angry.

Helpless.

Bleak.

Mental illness does not care about your relationship.

Mental illness does not define people.

People don’t choose to be ill.
